The municipality of Nendaz, in Valais, covers an area of roughly 85 square kilometres and has a population of just over 6,000 people. Within Nendaz lies the superb ski resort of Haute-Nandaz, which sits on a plateau of between 1,300 and 1,500m and forms part of the Four Valleys ski area, one of the most well-known and expansive skiing landscapes in Europe.

Nendaz and its surrounding areas contain over 200 world-class, snow-covered ski runs, adding up to over 400km in length, zipping from the beautiful glaciers that reach well over 3,000m into the sky, right down to the resort at 1,400m. With run difficulty ranging from beginners to double black, and with nearly 50km of covered runs in the area, all capabilities are catered for. Almost 100 mountain lifts operate non-stop at peak times to ensure fast and convenient access to the pistes.

Nendaz, and indeed the entire canton of Valais, contains excellent facilities, with a huge array of après-ski options to be found in the town's bars and restaurants. Superb cuisine is on offer at prices that won't break the bank, and the atmosphere is always friendly. With four airports within two hours drive of Nendaz, and excellent transport systems in the region, the area is surprisingly easy to access throughout the year.

The area around Nendaz has undergone significant development over the decades and work continues to take place.
