Deciding where to go for a family ski holiday is one thing – committing to a ski resort by purchasing property in the Alps is another thing entirely. Choosing the right resort, where your children are safe and can learn to ski, but still have fun as they grow older and more confident, is a key part of making a solid investment. Whether you’re looking for chalets for sale in the Swiss Alps or apartments for sale in the French Alps, or are more generally exploring property options across the Alps, here are a few of our favourite ski resorts for families:

La Tania (France)

La Tania is the perfect base camp for families who want to explore the famous Trois Vallées ski area. It boasts an easily accessible area for beginners, but if your children are too young to ski all day every day, childcare is available. La Tania also offers plenty of activities over the summer – with bike tracks, forest trails, an outdoor swimming pool, golf, and a range of sports for the more adventurous in the area, the kids won’t complain if you spend both winter and summer vacations here.

Flaine (France)

Despite a misconception limited activities off the slopes, Flaine is a great family ski holiday destination. The resort is designed with convenience in mind, with a traffic-free central square to ensure the safety of your little ones. The resort offers fantastic deals on family lift passes, and has something to offer every member of the family. It’s also an ideal place to purchase a property, as the slopes offer plenty of room for development, with nursery slopes for the total beginners, all the way through to black slopes and off-piste areas for the more experienced. And not forgetting the Golf Course at the top of the resort in Summer, which offers superb, panoramic views, as you progress around the course.

La Tzoumaz (Switzerland)

This Swiss gem is a good option if you want access to the renowned Verbier ski area without the associated hustle and bustle of staying in the Verbier resort itself. The resort has a heated swimming pool, an ice skating rink, and a whopping 10 km of floodlit slopes dedicated to tobogganing. There’s a fantastic little lift for the kids, and the ski school is exceptional. It doesn’t hurt that the area is also an excellent summer destination, with warm temperatures and a picturesque setting.
