Christmas 2018 family ski holiday

For a festive break with a difference, why not consider heading to the Alps for a magical getaway over the Christmas break?

You’ll be greeted by frosty alpine scenes, snow-topped mountains and traditional Alpine chalets, roofs coated with a thick layer of snow. If you’re travelling with children, they’ll be blown away by the picture-book scenes, not to mention the wealth of activities on offer.

It’s also a great option for couples - when you’ve had a busy few months, a relaxing getaway with your other half is a lovely relaxed way to spend Christmas. No relatives to placate, no social events you can’t miss and most importantly, no stress.

For keen skiers, Val d’Isere and Tignes offer some of the most reliable early snow in the area, so it’s worth keeping in mind if you’re keen to hit the slopes. Tignes glacier usually opens in the autumn, while both resorts should have a covering by Christmas. Even if not, the impressive man-made snow capacities in Val d’Isere should ensure you can enjoy skiing at Christmas.

Most chalets have cooking facilities if you’re keen to cook up a storm for Christmas dinner, but as a gourmet destination as much as it is a skiing paradise, you’ll find lots of restaurants too. If you head for the Val d’Isere area, Restaurant le Barillon comes highly recommended for Christmas lunch, though there are plenty of other options available.

A cosy chalet in an Alpine resort is the perfect place to spend a relaxed, low key Christmas, whether you’re bringing the whole family or just that special someone. If it’s something you can see yourself doing year after year, why not invest in property in the Alps?

As well as seeing healthy profits from renting it out, you could spend a cosy Christmas in the Alps every year. If that’s a Christmas card scene that appeals to you, get in touch with our team today to find out more about the property we have available and how we can help you find the perfect place.
