Christmas Markets in France

There’s not much more festive than wrapping your hands around a hot cup of mulled wine at a Christmas market - except if that market is in a picturesque Alpine village with snow-capped mountains in the distance.

Christmas time in the French Alps is always magical, with thick snow, sleigh-rides and chocolate-box villages never far away - but a French Christmas market is an experience not to be missed.

Chamonix boasts a popular Christmas market opening a couple of weeks before Christmas - the perfect place to pick up last minute gifts. Quaint wooden chalets house stallholders selling traditional goods and homemade crafts. You’ll also find entertainers, Santa’s grotto and plenty more for children and adults alike to enjoy.

It’s just one of many Christmas markets in the region - and the larger the resort, the more impressive the festivities are likely to be. In Val D’Isere Christmas celebrations start around the 21st of December. As well as having a very good chance of a white Christmas for your family, you’ll find market stalls, lights, snowmen and special shows for children.

Meanwhile, in St Jean D’Arves, one of the villages in the Les Sybelles resort, your little ones can enjoy meeting with the big man himself on Christmas Day. Santa Claus - or St Nicolas, in France, will visit the resort on Christmas Day in an activity that’s free for ski-pass holders.

An investment property is one of the best ways to enjoy everything the the French Alps have to offer all year round.
