October half term in the Alps

October is a great time to visit the alps with your family - prices are lower than in high summer and the ski season, but there’s plenty to do and see. With gorgeous autumn colours on display, there’s no time like the present to plan a last minute trip to the Alps this October half-term.

Outdoorsy families will love the range of activities that the relatively mild temperatures allow for. While watersports and skiing are off the menu, in many areas of the Alps you’ll be able to enjoy climbing, walking, biking and caving - perfect for older children and teens.

The food in the Alps too is family-friendly - while most resorts will boast a pizza place, the traditional French Alpine foods of fondue and raclette are also family friendly. What child doesn’t love the opportunity to eat everything smothered in cheese? Once the youngsters have gone to bed, there are plenty of fine-dining restaurants around if mum and dad need a grown-up date night.

Weather in much of the Alps should be nice at this time of year, with a chill in the air but plenty of crisp and sunny autumnal days. The weather can, of course, change, but don’t let that put you off.

The benefit of staying in a ski resort is that you’ll find plenty of bad-weather activities on offer too. From cinemas and indoor play areas to bowling and more, do your research and you’ll have plenty on offer to entertain children of all ages if the weather turns.

If you love spending time in the Alps with your family, an investment property could be a fantastic option. Allowing you to experience this beautiful part of the world all year round, you can also rent it out when not in use to recoup some of the costs.
