The very pretty and charming village of Vaujany that blends perfectly tradition and modernity is ideally located at an altitude of 1250m in the heart of Oisans and on the edge of the Ecrins National Park. Built on a sunny slope with its own micro-climate that ensures ample sunshine for its visitors, it forms part of the huge high altitude 250km Alpe d'Huez ski network, the "Massif des Grande Domain", providing world class linked skiing to an impressive altitude of 3300m. One of the richest villages in France thanks to the construction of the Hydroelectric power station in the valley ensures there are superb modern facilities and amenities on offer well beyond what you would expect from a small ski resort. With its pretty narrow streets which retains the authentic traditional charm of the village, there are a variety of good restaurants and cafes to choose from while Apres-ski facilites are also impressive in the resort.

One of the best resorts in the French Alps for children, the Ski Club of Great Britain recently named Vaujany as Europe's most friendly resort. With spectacular panoramic views of the two glaciers at 3300 and 3470m from the resort, Vaujany is connected via its state of the art gondola lift system, one of the most modern and largest cable cars in the world, to the vast Alpe d'Huez ski domain. The 160 person cable car takes skiers and boarders to 2800m in just 15 minutes in less time than from Alpe d'Huez itself. From here you have direct access to the entire network of pistes in the Alpe d'Huez area, some 120 downhill runs suitable for all levels and more vertical skiing than Courchevel. There are no direct slopes back to Vaujany itself, but the blue "Vaujaniate" run takes you skiers and boarders to the mid station and a ride on the Villette Gondola back to the resort. Alternatively the Black "la Fare" run drops to the village 'Enversin d'Oz where you can take the gondola Vaujany Enversin back to the village.

With amazing skiing for all levels and good snow conditions the Grand Domaine is made up of 4 sectors and 8 villages. The local Vaujany - Oz slopes predominantly of a North West aspect, offer 75km of skiing with fantastic vistas that include, glaciers, forests and villages nestled in the valleys below. With most of the slopes above the treeline, the many sided slopes of the Grand Domaine face in different directions and ensure skiers and boarders can always find the best snow by following the sun. It has the two longest black runs in Europe and an immense choice of off piste skiing but also plenty to keep the intermediate skier and beginners happy. The variety of the mountain restaurants match the stunning scenery and quality of its slopes.

As well as great skiing there are good range of other leisure activities to be found. With carefully planned development to control the traditional feel and friendliness of the resort (no high rise towers), the brand new sports centre has a 25m pool complete with flume and childrens play areas, spa area with sauuna, jacuzzis, steam rooms and fitness hall as well as an open air ice rink. The purpose built inexpensive creche for children of 6 months to 6 years has exellent facilities and is open all year round.

Situated on its south facing slopes with its breathtaking scenery, Vaujany is an ideal location for a summer getaway. The cable cars that run during July and August give easy access to the extensive selection of well maintained and signposted mountain biking and high altitude walking (90km) trails from easy to difficult ensuring something for everyone while climbing, fishing, paragliding, tennis, archery are a few of the many other activities on offer. The whole region is recognised for its cycling including the Tour de France which passes through the valley. The large resevoir at the bottom of the valley provides watersports that include windsurfing and boats.

Vaujany located on the Isere/Savoie border is very easily accessible by road, air and train. Grenoble airport is just 50km away and can be reached in under an hour by car making this a superb resort to own a second home. Calais is just 566 miles away (8 hours drive). By train Grenoble is only 3 hours from Paris while a regular coach comes to Vaujany in the French winter and summer holidays. Alternatively many airport transfer companies can take owners to and from the airport.
