Reasons to visit

At a snow sure altitude of 1860m and sitting just 15 minutes from the French / Italian border, Montgenevre is one of the oldest ski resorts in France. From the resort itself, here you can set out to access the world famous gigantic 400km Milky Way Ski Domain that crosses the French / Italian Border, the fifth largest ski area in the world.

Open for almost 5 months of skiing during the winter from the end of November to the latter part of April each year, along with excellent snowfall record, the resort offers the opportunity to ski both in Italy as well as France.

The village just 90 minutes from Turin airport has retained its traditional charm and this is no where more obviously on display than in the very heart of the village. Holding true to its heritage every January the village plays host to 'Les Januades' Festival, where there is live entertainment, from jazz and cinema to theatre and cabaret every evening.

With 90% of all slopes above 1900m and high altitude skiing to 2800m, all levels of skiers are very well catered for in the resort. Beginners have use of the very gentle nursery slopes at village level. There is also a very good selection of wide oen pistes and green runs to encourage those new to the sport to try it and progress onwards.

Intermediate skiers, really do find themselves spoilt for choice, with popular descents such as those down from Les Anges and Le Querelay and also a fabulous long red run from Le Chalvet at 2680m.

Through the extensions to the lift pass, which covers different sections of the Milky Way ski domain, which can be bought locally, this provides a whole host of opportunities to the advanced skier. Montgenevre offers some really exciting off-piste descents, mogul runs particularly in the Col de l'Alpet area and Heli skiing.

Nightlife in Montgenevre is informal and offers extremely good value, with a excellent selection of restauarants, along the main street offering everything from french cuisine to typical mountain dishes.

For those interested in more than just, or indeed not interested in sking, there are many other acitivties to choose from including snowshoeing, snowmobiling, torchlight descents and ice-skating.

In addition to the abundant winter sport activities the dual season resort of Montgenevre with 300 days of sunshine per year is home to a 9 hole golf course, bike park with 100km of cross country, Enduro and Downhill trails for all levels, 4 season sledge track, 300km of hiking trails and 3500m2 aqua spa centre to name a few.
